Too many high rise buildings, few places of real interest, the strip is fine for a few nights with shows and karaoke etc but once seen all are much of a muchness.

A vastly under rated city

Alicante
Alicante is the airport that holiday makers going to Benidorm and Terrevieja use, and they by pass Alicante on the motorway (thankfully). Alicante is a great city, combining tradition and modern facilities well. The array of restaurants, bars and exclusive shops is fantastic. A visit to the castle is a must, with amazing views, and if you are fit enough walk down and travel through the old town with the cobbled streets. By the way, there are 2 castles, but only one is used for tourists. The marina is great (apart from the hideous casino) and the fish restaurants are amazing, albeit a touch more expensive than the main town. I would recommend Alicante for a main holiday destination city, or city break, or just a great day out from the beaches in Benidorm - Alicante beach is good too!
