Breaking News / Earthquake in Greece & Turkey

Dear Partners,

 As you will know Greece and Turkey were affected by an earthquake late last night. We have investigated from both local offices the situation and we would like to provide you with the below reports from our Meeting Point offices in Greece and Turkey:

Meeting Point Greece:

“A strong earthquake had hit Kos last night. At 01:31 a 6,4 Richter scale hit the island with 2 official reported dead and many injured. I confirm that all guests are Ok. Couple of minutes later a second earthquake hit with 5,1.  For the next hour 3 more strong earthquakes took place 4,6 4,5 and 4,7. The earthquake was between Kos and Rhodes in the sea and had a depth of 10 km and whole Dodecanese area felt the earthquake. The port of Kos is currently closed as it is not functional. The airport is ok at the moment. Most damages are reported at the Town of Kos area. No damages are reported at any other island at the moment. The only hotel  which is affected  is Continental Palace in Kos and we are reallocating these clients. We have no information regarding any other reallocations in the Island for the time being”

Meeting Point Turkey:

"This night at about 1:31 am an earthquake of 6.3. took part in Bodrum region, followed up by smaller earthquakes. Fortunately no buildings broke down. The earthquake could be felt in whole region of Muğla district, also in Marmaris. Here one client contacted the rep and asked for early departure in the first instant. In WOW Bodrum hotel parts minor damage in the Lobby but also fortunately nobody got hurt. During the night some clients asked for early departure in Bodrum area. We are dealing with each request to move case by case asap. In Bodrum Gümbet region the level of the sea increased and a result of this Büyük Anadolu was affected. From this hotel some guests applied for hotel change, again we are dealing with this case by case asap. The rep will contact them this very morning and arrange the necessary things. In general all reps in the Bodrum area will get in contact with all the hotels we have clients in during the day and try to contact the clients.”
